Taproot and bech32 confusion
Similar prefixes and checksums can make casual eyeballing useless. Always compare full addresses or use payment requests (BOLT11 / silent payments where supported).
Defences
- Label contacts in your wallet; never trust unsolicited “change” UTXOs as identity
- Verify on a second device when moving life-changing amounts
- Watch for clipboard malware — paste mismatch checks matter
Teach friends the rule: one wrong character = total loss.
